Homeschooling is a subject that has TONS of misconceptions and opinions. Sometimes, its a best fit for your family, just like choosing public, private, or charter school for your kids and it may not be as complicated as you think. There are certainly safeguards and requirements- but let’s be honest, there needs to be some kind of accountability no matter where your kids are learning.  

Minnesota requires you to do a few things each year.  The state breaks it down into three categories: General Yearly reporting, Immunization reporting and Records of Instruction.

Duluth Heritage Center  Open ice skate, hockey leagues and soccer teams, many opportuinites for PE credit.

Duluth YMCA Homeschool PE A great way to earn your PE credit, Duluth YMCA offers an easy option.

Glensheen History at it’s finest. Learn about a famous local contributor to Duluth.

Great Lakes Aquarium With multiple classes or exploring, GLA has great science experiences.

Hartley Nature Multiple engaging classes and great outdoor trails year round makes Hartley a perfect spot.

Incline Station Bowling is a fun way to get a field trip and a PE credit experience. 

Lake Superior Zoo  The LSZ is a great place to explore many local and exotic animals.

LIFE A flexible, multi-subject tutoring resource

Northland CORE Meet up with other moms and families for group outings, playgroups and support.

North Shore Scenic Railroad See Duluth from a different perspective- on a train ride!

Spirit of the Lake Community School  SLCS has many co-op classes and opportunities to meet other local homeschool families.

Spirit Mountain Skiing is how this place is best known, but with year round activities, it’s a great spot.

Superior YMCA Another location for gym and swim. Also has family workout times.

UMD Planetarium An engaging way to learn about astronomy and the science into space.

Vertical Endeavors Rock climbing lessons and programs 

World of Wheels A fun PE option.
